UBS AG Profile

UBS AG, which stood for the Union Bank of Switzerland and has become a pseudo-acronym to distinguish itself as a new entity, was the main holding company for the UBS subsidiaries until 2014. At that time, UBS Group AG was created to become the new holding company. To satisfy its shareholders in the implementation of this proposal, UBS Group AG would offer to acquire current UBS shares in exchange for UBS Group AG shares on a share-by-share basis. Shares of UBS Group AG started trading as the new holding company in late 2014, and during January 2015, UBS would become delisted from the New York Stock Exchange and SIX Swiss Exchange in place of UBS Group. UBS AG offers a variety of financial services, providing retail, wealth and asset management, corporate and institutional banking, and investment banking products and services. Its line of products and services, which also includes advice based solutions through its financial advisors, are provided to its retail, corporate and institutional clients alike. Even though UBS AG was created out of UBS Group AG only in 2014, its line of products and services is as diversified and encompassing as some of the leaders in the industry with a wide scope that covers research to precious metal markets to tailored fixed income services. Although the two companies are very closely related and have the same board of directors acting as leadership, they have separate agendas for their operations. Sergio Ermotti serves as the CEO for both the holding company UBS Group and UBS AG. As of today, UBS AG acts as a subsidiary of UBS Group AG with its headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. In 2015, UBS AG reported an unaudited standalone earning results of over $9 billion in the first quarter compared to the $7 billion income the previous quarter.
